About
I’m Thomas Di Giusto. I write BALEK, my own explicit solid dynamics code.
It’s written in C, on top of PETSc and MPI. It uses finite volumes. It handles large deformation, plasticity, fracture and contact. There is a GPU port too.
This blog is about the performance and the numerics of that code. How fast it runs, why it runs that fast, and whether the answers stay the same when it gets faster.
Every number here comes from runs of my own code on my own machines. If one of them looks wrong, it probably needs a second look.
